Return of the Boombap : On Radio | Online | On Our Grind

ScHoolboy Q has been busy recently. Back in March, he dropped his new album Blue Lips. The project came after a long break for the "Collard Greens" rapper. His previous record CrasH Talk dropped all the way back in 2019. While CrasH Talk was subject to quite a bit of scrutiny from both fans and critics, Blue Lips was met with much more praise. Since then, Q has been reminding fans how entertaining he can be by stopping by numerous podcasts and radio shows to discuss a huge variety of topics.

Unsurprisingly he's spoken quite a bit on something he seems pretty qualified to comment on, rap music. During a recent show appearance, he repeated a claim he's made before, that there's still plenty of good music out there. But he also explained why it's getting harder and harder to find it. "for the most part, it's cooked because it's turned to content... rappers are just content creators now," Q says in the interview. In the replies, fans surprisingly disagree with him. "I get what he's saying but you could literally say this about any industry right now. Roofers have YouTube channels, nobody thinks that's cooked" one comment reads. "It's always been content" another comment reads. Check out his comments and all the fan reactions to them below.

ScHoolboy Q Says Rappers Are Content Creators

ScHoolboy Q says there's still plenty of good music, but the market is saturated and "for the most part, it's cooked because it's turned to content... rappers are just content creators now." pic.twitter.com/BTkaU8jHC4

ScHoolboy Q also plays a small role in the biggest rap story of the year, Drake and Kendrick Lamar's beef. Recently it came out that he reportedly warned J. Cole to step out of the beef before Kendrick and Drake started firing on all cylinders. The claim also alleges that the warning came before Cole publicly apologized to Kendrick and took his own diss track down.

What do you think of ScHoolboy Q claiming that rappers have become content creators which makes finding good music harder? Do you agree with the fans that it's actually always been that way? Let us know in the comment section below.

Ippei Mizuhara, the former interpreter and close friend of Shohei Ohtani, will enter a guilty plea to many federal charges after acknowledging that he stole around $17 million from the Dodgers star. As a result, he may spend more than three decades behind bars. Mizuhara agreed to plead guilty to one count of bank fraud and one count of filing a false tax return. The crime spanned multiple years. Additionally, the US Justice Department revealed on Wednesday that he would soon be sentenced.

United States Attorney Martin Estrada said of Ippei's actions, "The extent of this defendant's deception and theft is massive." He continued, "He took advantage of his position of trust to take advantage of Mr. Ohtani and fuel a dangerous gambling habit. My office is committed to vindicating victims throughout our community and ensuring that wrongdoers face justice." There is a maximum sentence of 30 years for the bank fraud accusation and three years for the tax allegation. Furthermore, there will most likely be a significant reduction in sentence length.

Shohei Ohtani's Interpreter Gambling Controversy

Asserting that Mizuhara "exploited his relationship" with Shohei Ohtani, the government will concede that Mizuhara transferred about $17 million of Ohtani's money covertly to settle gambling debts. According to reports, Mizuhara paid Ryan Boyajian, a cast member of Real Housewives of Orange County, who was an alleged collaborator with Matthew Bowyer, the accused illegal bookmaker. Reports say Boyajian and Bowyer would "clean" the illegal money at casinos in Las Vegas.

Ohtani, who is non-English speaking, depended on Mizuhara for almost everything when he first came to the United States from Japan. Mizuhara created the slugger's bank account in 2018. The DOJ claims that Ippei started placing bets on athletic events in September 2021 and soon incurred a massive debt from a bookie but kept making bets. He then planned to siphon money from Shohei Ohtani's finances to settle debts and keep betting. In conclusion, Ippei Mizuhara will be arranged on May 14th.

Gucci Mane's 1017 Records hasn't been very lucky when it comes to its artists' experiences with the prison system, an unfortunate reality that is too heavy to be treated as a "coincidence or correlation" argument. It's something that he's always been upfront about wanting to support his team through, and something that he recently talked about with his wife. Moreover, Keyshia Ka'oir's All Things podcast's first episode invited Guwop, and despite their close bond, she didn't hold back on some tough questions. While this definitely took him aback for a moment, it was interesting to see what his candid remarks were on something so serious.

"So the streets want to know why all your 1017 artists keep going to jail," Keyshia Ka'oir asked Gucci Mane, who expressed surprise at the opening. "Oh, wow. So that's how we gon' start?" he asked his partner. "I was one of those type of artists, I was always going back and forth to jail. I try to help those artists that I feel I see a lot of myself in." The "TakeDat" MC also posited that he's always there to try and lend his artists in legal situations a helping hand "through their little bumps or whatever they're going through. But I feel like if I'm not helping them, who else gon' help them? Nobody says that part of the story."

Gucci Mane's Appearance On Keyshia Ka'oir's Podcast: Watch

Furthermore, that part of the story is crucial when you consider the careers of Pooh Shiesty, Foogiano, Hoodrich Pablo Juan, Ralo, and more 1017 affiliates caught up in the prison system. Some of them already made it out, others remain behind bars, but Gucci Mane has publicly stood by all of them throughout their struggles. It's not easy for a label boss to manage all these different careers, and even harder to see them develop in the way they have. But it's a process he always seems willing to go through.

Meanwhile, speaking of Keyshia Ka'oir, she recently addressed pregnancy rumors that seek to take their relationship to the next level. We can only wonder what other revelations might come forward as a result of this All Things podcast, for which we'll have to wait and see. As for 1017 Records, we wish all these artists the best in achieving accountability, dealing with their situations, and making it out. We're sure that once they are free, Gucci Mane will be there with open arms to welcome them back to the game.

The New York Knicks are up 2-0 on the Indiana Pacers after another thrilling win in Madison Square Garden. Like always, the Knicks crowd provided a great atmosphere and were extremely active during the game. The Knicks and Pacers have a storied rivalry, and the series feels like it means something to both team's fans beyond the playoffs. Pacers legend and Hall of Famer Reggie Miller was back at Madison Square Garden to call the game, and it was a big deal for Knicks fans. Reggie was a thorn in the side of the Knicks in the 90s, and the crowd made sure to give him a warm welcome. Knicks guard Josh Hart had to let Reggie know.

As the Knicks began to assert their dominance in the game's final minutes, the New York fans decided to add their unique touch to the proceedings. They chose to shower Reggie Miller once again, a gesture that was both humorous and a testament to their passion for the game. Miller, who had been flown in by TNT for Game 2, was calling the Nuggets and Timberwolves series, which had an extended break until Friday's Game 3. The crowd chanted in unison, "F*** you Reggie!" Reggie and the broadcast crew were oblivious to the chants because of their headsets, so Josh Hart went over to Reggie during a dead ball and hilariously let the Pacers legend know what was up.

Josh Hart Alerts Reggie Miller T MSG Crowds Hilarious Chant

You can hear Josh Hart drop the f-bomb while letting Reggie know. The moment was just another highlight in what has been an entertaining playoff from the New York Knicks. The games at MSG have been a show. The atmosphere and passion of the fans make the games feel special. Reggie Miller being back at MSG was just another fun wrinkle in the proceedings. He et up with his old frenemy Spike Lee, and even Ben Stiller jokingly gave him the middle finger while passing him by.

It's good times in New York, but there are some major worries for the Knicks. Jalen Brunson left the game in the first quarter with a foot injury but was able to return in the second half. Knicks defensive stopper OG Anunoby left the game in the fourth quarter with what appeared to be a hamstring injury. That will be a major blow for the Knicks if he has to miss time. The Knicks' big man Mitchell Robinson is currently out, and he has the same injury he received from Joel Embiid's dirty play. Overall, whoever is playing for the Knicks will leave everything on the floor, and the fans will be 100% behind them, chanting, "F*** you Reggie."

DJ Akademiks has been one of the main sources of inside information throughout the Drake and Kendrick Lamar feud. Overall, this makes a whole lot of sense when you consider how Drake is friendly with Ak. In fact, Drizzy was the one who informed Akademiks that "Family Matters" would be dropping on Friday night. At this stage, fans are curious as to whether or not the Canadian megastar is going to release again. Akademiks has been teasing a new song, and Drake has been pretty ambiguous on his Instagram page. That said, no one knows for sure what is going down.

Well, taking to Twitter today, Akademiks had a message for the fans. It was a cryptic one at that as he simply said "Appreciate the silence. What comes after it is usually great." Ultimately, fans have no real idea what this means. It could have a whole plethora of meanings for all we know. That said, it does appear as though Drake has something up his sleeve. "The Heart Part 6" was not it for a lot of people, and they would have loved for him to have finished the feud with something a lot stronger.

DJ Akademiks Continues To Have The Inside Track

Appreciate the silence. What comes after it is usually great.
— DJ Akademiks (@Akademiks) May 9, 2024

Having said all of that, on the song "Not Like Us," Kendrick Lamar makes it apparent that he has 10 diss tracks ready to go. If that is truly the case, Drake may want to hold off on going further with the feud. After all, "Meet The Grahams" and "Not Like Us" were absolutely scathing, and both artists may damage their reputations further if this continues to go down a dark path.

Let us know what you think of this tweet from DJ Akademiks, in the comments section down below. Do you believe that this signifies that a new Drake song is going to be coming out today? Or do you believe that this is all over and done with? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will continue to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists and their upcoming projects.

Patrick Beverley's actions in Indiana have left many surprised and concerned. The Bucks guard, known for his aggressive playstyle, had a night filled with controversies as the Indiana Pacers eliminated his team from the playoffs. Beverley, who often engages in trash-talking, was seen throwing a ball not once but twice at fans standing behind the Bucks bench. His post-game behavior was equally unexpected. He expelled a reporter from the locker room for not subscribing to his podcast. The situation has taken a serious turn, with the police now involved in the ball-throwing incident.

The NBA player is currently being investigated by Indianapolis police. They have stated that they are looking into the ball-throwing incident involving Patrick Beverley. A representative for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has confirmed that, on May 2, after Beverley threw a basketball at Indiana fans twice during the Bucks' playoff game against the Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, investigators did in fact file a case report. The representative claims that the report was subsequently sent to investigators. The investigators are currently attempting to obtain additional video from the arena and speak with those who were involved. The representative went on to say that as soon as the investigation is complete, detectives are supposed to forward their results to prosecutors.

Patrick Beverley Has Apolologized For Ball Throwing Tantrum

Patrick Beverley has not yet made any public comments regarding the criminal inquiry, although he did apologize for his acts and labeled them "inexcusable" earlier this week on his podcast, "The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone." He explained that he did it because the trash talk by fans within the arena went too far. However, he restated that he ought not to have thrown the ball into the crowd. There has still not been a punishment from the NBA, which may be waiting for the criminal investigation to be completed.

Patrick Beverley went too far. When Draymond Green is saying you went too far, you went too far. Beverley has a history of being a sore loser and letting his emotions get the better. Just ask Chris Paul. Hopefully, the investigation isnt too severe as it was just a ball. Overall, it would be a shame for this to get blown out of proportion. The NBA should suspend and fine him and call it a day.

Drake and Kendrick Lamar are beefing right now, and everyone is talking about it. Overall, this feels like the biggest story in North America. There is an election this year, however, most people are debating between these two as opposed to Donald Trump and Joe Biden. At the end of the day, pop culture is front and center in our lives, and this beef is taking over the moment. For now, many believe the feud is over as Drake seemingly waved the white flag on "The Heart Part 6." That said, there is always a chance that someone comes through with a new song.

Meanwhile, those who have ever been around Drake and Kendrick in the past are coming out of the woodwork to give their takes on what is happening. One such person is Marcellus Wiley, who used to be a co-host on the ESPN show Sportsnation. In a new video posted to Twitter, Wiley claimed that Drake was on the show in 2014 and dissed Kendrick Lamar on it. Subsequently, he allegedly did everything he could to block the interview from going out. He even allegedly threatened to not host the ESPYs.

Marcellus Wiley says Drake dissed Kendrick Lamar on his ESPN show back in 2014.

But Wiley says Drake then "hid" behind his team & threatened not to host the ESPYs if they actually published the interview so the clip was shelved.

pic.twitter.com/uLKOV3rZER
— Andrés Tardio (@AndresWrites) May 9, 2024

Overall, Wiley doesn't have proof that this happened and simply expects the audience to take his word for it. That said, Drake was definitely a regular on ESPN at the time. This would have been a year after the "Control" verse, which Drizzy was reportedly offended by. However, there is no concrete proof that he did this, and considering the footage was scrubbed, we will probably never see it with our own two eyes.

Let us know what you think of this revelation from Marcellus Wiley, in the comments section down below. Do you believe that this actually happened? Do you think that Drake is going to come through with a new track after what just went down on "Not Like Us?" Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will continue to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists and their upcoming projects.

DJ Akademiks, just like many other content creators and media figures, is starting to look at the Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef from more of a retrospective. Moreover, he theorized as to why many people in the rap game haven't supported the former in this feud, or at least pointed out various instances of people subliminally picking their side or standing in silence. In particular, the streamer named Kid Cudi and Chris Brown as two examples, one for tweeting about ghostwriting and the other for seemingly dancing to "Not Like Us" in the club. Also, he speculated on why 4batz's new album wasn't under OVO, didn't feature his Drizzy remix, and instead included a Kanye West remix.

Perhaps the most salient point DJ Akademiks made throughout all of this emerged towards the beginning of the video below. "Today, I looked around, and it felt like people were trying to read the eulogy of Drake," he said while on stream. "You know how they always say, 'Every billionaire done f***ed over a couple of people to get to that point'? Man, Drake did a number on half of these n***as, 'cause as soon as they see Drake kind of down, everybody has a slick comment or something almost saying, 'Yes, about f***ing time!' They're either jumping him or they're happy he got jumped."

DJ Akademiks Speaks On Other Rappers Subbing Drake & Other Kendrick Lamar Beef Narratives

Elsewhere during this clip, DJ Akademiks also revisits "The Heart Part 6," speaks on the "Meet The Grahams" cover art, and much more. But this particular sentiment about people turning on Drake due to him screwing many people over is a theory that former Everyday Struggle co-host Joe Budden also shares. He posited it in a different way on his podcast, instead suggesting that the people directly involved in the beef like other rappers and producers showed the breadth of the distaste for the 6ix God. While Ak referred more to reactions from uninvolved parties, they both landed on a similar conclusion that something must've happened for Kendrick Lamar to either jump in or be asked to jump in.

Meanwhile, Drake dropped his first Instagram Story since "The Heart Part 6" and the troubling and hopefully soon-resolved incidents that happened around his home in Toronto. Whether or not the battle with Kendrick Lamar is over, folks are treating it as such right now. Maybe either artist has some more ammunition, but it seems unlikely. Now, everyone's just examining the fallout and wondering how this will all age as the industry continues to shift.

Everyone who's made it to the top has probably ruffled some feathers along the way, and also likely created a lot of undue jealousy within folks who were more resentful than secure. But according to Joe Budden and some other members of his podcast, Drake's position in the Kendrick Lamar beef is one of his own doing. "The most important line in this battle starts to come true, which is 'It's not just me,'" he remarked on the newest episode of his show. "'I'm what the culture [is] feeling.' When you pair that to the weirdo chart activity, when you pair that to... Yo, dawg, when 'Not Like [Us]' dropped, I learned that Mustard had a problem with Drake. I start scratching my f***ing head. N***a, you got a beef with Mustard?

"It's not a two-sided coin," Joe Budden continued. "I'm saying that one person has offended about 100 people in the music industry, and you can hear it. Every step of the way in this battle, it comes up. Every step in the battle, he says something else that reminds me, 'Oh, s**t, he got a beef with -- Oh, s**t, Ja Morant.' N***a, Jack started tweeting! Jack! From Twitter! Start tweeting, it's weird.

Joe Budden Theorizes On Why So Many People Are Not Supporting Drake Right Now

Joe Nailed It pic.twitter.com/e8Cl7W3V74
— Shawn K The King  (@SKTheKingYT) May 8, 2024

"Ice, I don't care what you n***as say on some fanfare s**t," Joe Budden went on. "If we were in real life, and this existed with somebody, how would we treat that person? That's why I don't care about the fans' opinion about a beef. The industry is sending a clear-cut message that you have worn out your welcome. This is not a Kendrick, just West Coast thing. Yeah, Kendrick, they just went and tapped somebody on the shoulder, like, 'Big dog, help. Help.' Metro is on Twitter saying, 'Aye, Drake, you know that I can't say whatever our real problem is because both of us are going to look crazy.' That mean that he's told somebody whatever that real problem is, and it looks crazy.

"This is not just coincidentally, 'We are all mad at Drake's success, and we are acting out,'" he concluded. "This is bigger than that is all I'm saying. So for him to not recognize it, I agree with Emanny, it just boils down to the arrogance, I think. It says something that nobody outside of Birdman is saying something in support of Drake. It's not up for question, I'm telling y'all something. I'm telling y'all factual music business s**t. It's no longer just odd, it's by design, it's calculated."
